Elephant seals and Blackberries

It is so funny that I never seem to make it to Ano Nuevo State Park. It isn't that far and it is really beautiful. And there are some of the most amazing creatures there. Once thought to be extinct, elephant seals haul up on the beach there to breed and raise pups. Sexual dimorphism is on full display here, with such extremes between males and females in size and, most interestingly, their noses, one of those species that appreciates a nice, dangly nose. We were inspired to head up there for a hike with Nina and Ayla and it did not disappoint. The overlook to see the seals was further than I remembered, but it was even more beautiful as well, with loads of flowers in bloom. Our little monkeys seemed delighted to be carried along for the hike and to be let down to explore. Afterward, we returned home for some good old radio flier pushing and eating blackberries from the bush near our house. It was a very good day!
