US Tour 2010 Part 4
We headed to Denver after our brief visit in Boulder, staying overnight and catching an early flight. The alarm went off at some ungodly hour before any sign of sun, and we headed out of the hotel to find it snowing hard. Griff thought it was great. It was nice to be traveling with Darrell this time. I didn't have to try to navigate the tiny airport restroom stalls with the baby still attached to me in the carrier or put his shoes back on one-handed while trying to keep track of the laptop while the lady behind me gets all huffy because I am holding up all of the bins from exiting the x-ray scanner.
Griff was wide awake, much to my chagrin.
I thought that maybe if I nursed him under the nursing cover that he would relax and fall to sleep. He thought it was a great way to play peek-a-boo with everyone else around, showing off his favorite feed apparatus. You can see just how appreciative I was by the expression on my face.
Once I gave up on his falling asleep, we had much more fun!
We arrived in South Carolina to see Griff's Grandma Sue and Greatgrandma Virginia. Grandma Sue came to visit at the end of October, but this was Griff's first time meeting Greatgrandma and he seemed pretty smitten.
Grandma Sue is fun and laid back, putting a bowl of grits out on the table outside and letting Griff go to town. Griff had a great time exploring.
And she found a cute little car for him to practice scooting around on.
Grandma Sue's house is on Lake Hartwell, so she has a dock and a boat. With the drought the past few years and lots of rain this year, her dock access was down the bank and a little in the water, a tad inconvenient. So she asked Darrell to haul it up the bank. Rocsoe, Sue's dog, provided moral support. Luckily, it was easier than Darrell made it look.
Darrell, Roscoe, and Sue went for a victory lap in the boat after the dock was jimmied into place.
We had lots of time to just relax. The lake is really beautiful and the lawn super nice to hang out on. Just beware the fire ants. No Griff didn't get stung, but Darrell did.
Griff enjoying the view.
Griff was still teething, and he really liked pieces of frozen apple to chew on (thanks for the suggestion, Auntie Brandee!)
Nestled up with Grandma Sue.
Sue's long-time friend, Sheila, came to visit while we were there. She has a wonderful sense of humor and brought a welcomed level of hilarity into the house.
One of the silliest moments was when the three gals were trying to figure out how to lower the top on the fancy red car. It took about 15 minutes, during which various random parts of the car raised and lowered several times.
But they were pretty pleased with the final product, two beautiful gals tooling down the country roads with the top down!
On Sunday morning we said a sad goodbye to Grandma Sue and Greatgrandma Virginia and headed home with a long lay-over in Dallas. Darrell's dad, Grandpa Butch, and his wife Linda, LaLa, picked us at the airport and we headed out for lunch. We put Griff in his tie-chair, and it was pretty cute to see him peering up over the table. He was tired this time, though, and he wasn't into the restraint thing. So he got passed around the table throughout lunch as his cheeks slowly sank down his face.
Look at those cheeks sunk down near his chin! Cute pic, Auntie Nicole!
The little guy crashed on the plane back home, sound asleep! Auntie Brandee and her new man picked us all up from the airport and delivered us safely home after a long day of travel and visiting. Thanks Bran!
Overall, it was a fun tour of the advisors, grandparents, uncles and aunties, friends, and dogs! In all we visited one advisor, five grandparents, one uncle, one aunt, six friends, six dogs, and two bunnies over four states and five plane flights. Not bad for a week.

Very impressive indeed!
