2 Visits, Halloween, And A Birthday
So I have been on a hiatus from the blog, hoping I would get a chunk of time with 2 free hands to type, but no such luck. So I am one-handed typing with Griff snoring away on my lap.
We have had a busy past few weeks with visitors, Halloween, and my birthday. And Griff has been perfecting some old tricks and working on some new ones. Griff still loves to read with us and has been working really hard at controlling his hands to turn the pages. But it turns out that his ultimate goal is to get the page into his mouth. He is literally and figuratively devouring those books!

Griff and his Grandma Sue (aka Swa), Darrell's mom, finally got to meet. She had a 3-stop-over flight to get here, but she was determined to get out for a visit and we are so glad she made it! We all had a great time with her (but we missed Great Grandma!).
On Halloween, after a long struggle to make that darned Elvis costume that Felicia, Darrell, and Nina egged me into trying failed due to a sewing machine malfunction, we put Griff's bee hat on him and walked to downtown. They close off the street to cars and the stores have candy for kids to trick or treat. Darrell, Sue, and I had a great time checking out all the wild costumes; I am not sure Griff recognized the get-ups as any different than any other clothing. But he seemed to have fun looking at people.

Especially The Great Morgani, the stockbroker turned flamboyantly-costumed accordion bursar.

The next day was my birthday and I had asked if we could go for a little picnic and hike at Henry Cowell with the family. Darrell, Griff, and I headed out with Angie, Sue, and Steely following us. When we arrived, Darrell surprised me by telling me that several friends would be joining us. It was a fun time, with family, friends, dogs, and babies! We spread out some blankets between the picnic tables so the little ones could get down on the ground and snacked and talked and laughed.

Angie and Sue.
Adelia with Griff.
Savannah with a gummy grin.
It was a perfect fall day, so we packed it up and went for a walk in the redwood forest.
Bill and Savannah on a mushroom=seeking adventure.
Chatting with the babies.
Adelia and Dave.
At the top, overlooking the Pacific.
Griff decided to share his very favorite things with Savannah...his fingers!
The next day we relaxed at Angie and Hilcah's.
Cousins.
Griff fascinated by the fish tank.
Chillin out with cousin Steely and Uncle Hilcah.
Grandma Sue left the next morning and Grandma Pam and Grandpa Big arrived from Clear Lake for an overnight visit. Griff sported a new expression with Grandpa Big.
Enjoying outside with Grandma Pam.
Smooch!
Helping Grandma Pam with her glasses. It was a short time after this that Griff had his first solo roll over to his tummy, repeated it, and hasn't done it again since. But I have no doubt he will again soon, before I am ready for it!
