Griffin's Holiday Adventures Part II
On with Griff's holiday adventures! After our visit with Grandma Pam, Grandpa Big, Auntie Kelley, and Uncle Adam for Christmas, we left Barley there to hang out with Bubba for a few days, and headed north to Eureka. While in grad school at Humboldt State, Darrell made a few really close friends there. We hadn't seen them since before Griff was born, so it was time to make the trek. We made it to Eureka at about 5 and headed straight to the Jetty with Neil, Julie, and the two girls they are caring for and met John there. As the sun set behind the cloudy sky, we walked on the sand, listening to the waves crash on the jetty. John grabbed Griff right away, and Griff seemed to be really happy being carried by him (and probably out of that darn car seat!)
Julie, Neil, Darrell, and John with the two girls. Darrell got practice swinging little ones while they walk (giggling and giggling and saying "again again!!!") Neil and Julie were amazing hosts, giving us their bedroom and cooking up some really yummy meals. Thanks you two!!!
The next day while everyone was at work, Darrell, Griff, and I went north for a hike at Patrick's Point State Park. It was a gorgeous day and we had a great time! Griff slept through a lot of the hike, but woke up for the end.
Aminita snuggled up to a fern.
Griff going for a banana slug.
We stopped in Trinidad on the way back and someone took a rare family portrait of us by the lighthouse.
We met Neil a little later at the Arcata Marsh and had a nice hike around.
On the way back to Eureka, we stopped by John's house and Griff had a great time. Between the drum kit and Luis, the dog who chases balls, Griff has never laughed more. Video to come.
Laughing at Luis the ball-chasing dog.
Before we headed back to Kelseyville the next day, we got a shot of Neil, Julie, and the girls.
Griff's Holiday Adventure came to an end when we headed back to Santa Cruz the next day. He was such a great traveler, I am sure we will be heading out on more adventures soon!
