CABO!

Thanksgiving 2010 involved a relaxing, whirlwind trip to Cabo! Now Cabo isn't somewhere Darrell and I would normally go, not the budget vacation sort of place we are more apt to frequent. And boy was it NICE. Darrell's pop, stepmom, and sister, Grandpa Butch, Lala, and Auntie Colie, invited us to spend the holiday with them at their condo in a private resort-type place. It was beautiful, comfy and clean and looked out onto the beach and bay. There was a wonderful pool with a shallow, sloped entrance and the beach was located just outside the complex. We flew out of San Jose on Tuesday, almost missed our flight due to logistics of having a lap baby, but just made it. A plane change and layover and then arrival in San Jose del Cabo and another long shuttle ride through beautiful desert and that was an entire day of traveling. Griff was a trooper! We brought a few new books and activities and told him that getting down while on the plane wasn't an option and he happily stayed on our laps and played and slept. The same for the trip home on Friday. I was glad I had reserved a few new little toys for the trip home to keep him occupied when he got antsy. I had been a little nervous about putting him in a carseat in shuttles and cabs in Cabo, but once we got the hang of the various seatbelt arrangements, it was pretty simple to get him strapped in. Griff has his first stamp in his passport. The little man was such a flexible traveler. He had no problem with the altered sleeping arrangements and was friendly and happy to explore and play wherever he was. Griff had a great time playing in the pool, checking out the various fountains stationed around it. And then there was the ocean. Griff was pretty hesitant at first, but after some time he was comfortable enough with the waves to get his toes wet with poppa. Butch, Linda, and Nicole treated me to a heavenly birthday massage. Linda made a wonderful Thanksgiving spread with all the fixings, making us feel like it was a Thanksgiving celebration back home. Mostly we just relaxed and enjoyed letting Griff get to spend time with Grandpa Butch, Lala, and Auntie Colie. It was a wonderful first international trip for the munchkin and for us!
