Half Birthday (Revised)

Yesterday Griff turned six-months! He has been part of our little family for six months already. It is hard to believe that it has already been that long. It seems like we were just bringing him home, and we often feel just as clueless as to how to care for him. But we are having a lot of fun with him, and our love for him grows greater and greater every day. He continues the baby hair loss with the top still relatively thick and luxurious; the roots are looking pretty light. He is increasing his vocal repertoire, and decreasing his use of his high soprano (soooooo glad for that). And he is getting really strong, turning from back onto his front easily, trying to push his butt in the air, and occasionally rolling from front to back by accident. I am sure it will be on purpose soon enough. He can cover a little ground with these moves, and he can grasp things really well and bring them to his main exploratory organ, his mouth, like a champ. We just got some baby gates.

With Griff six months after he was born, with a gift from his pop, "There's A Wocket In My Pocket!"
We went for a walk in Pogonip, a beautiful park near UCSC.
Later that evening, we went to visit Uncle Hillcah, Auntie Angie, and Cousin Steely. Griff was particularly delighted to see his cousin and smiled and laughed at him and reached out fir him. Steely was very sweet with Griff.
Steely giving Griff a kiss. Steely opened our gift to him, wooden Tinker Toys made by a German company Schylling (original Tinker Toys are all plastic now; these are the kind that I remember playing with and loving as a kid...for locals, we got them at Lolly Tree Toys). Steely played with them for over an hour, making all sorts of things from sun and moon to trains and cars. He and Darrell played loads of games together, while Griff crashed out on my chest and Angie and Hillcah ran out on some errands. It was so nice to know we hit the spot with this gift; Angie said he was at them again this morning before we woke up. As for Griff, we got him home and to bed almost without waking him. And we are off to his six-month check up, with vaccinations including H1N1 so we can visit family in the spring without that worry. And tomorrow we head up to Clear Lake for Christmas with Grandma Pam, Grandpa Big, Auntie Kelley, and Uncle Adam. We will post more pictures as soon as we can. Happy holidays!
